The Brilliant Things
The Brilliant Things are an Irish synth-pop group formed by Greg French and Marie Junior. The act is active from 2008 and works in styles associated with indie, pop, electronic and new wave.
Background
Greg French is a multi-instrumentalist who works as a house engineer and assistant engineer in major international studios. He has worked with The Corrs, Van Morrison, Mutt Lang and Brian Eno. Marie Junior grows up in a music-focused environment; her father is a musician and band manager who works with a range of established groups.
Before forming The Brilliant Things, Marie Junior records as Sweet T and reaches the Irish chart top 40 with a version of The Mekan's "I Love a Millionarie".
Music and recording
The Brilliant Things write their own material, which is described as often cheekily cynical. Their sound centres on synth-pop, with pop melodies and electronic elements to the fore. They are also working under the guidance of producer Olle Romo, who produces The Corrs.
The group is preparing its debut album, with the project positioned as its first full release.
