The Bony King of Nowhere is the project of Belgian singer-songwriter and composer Bram Vanparys from Ghent, Belgium. Vanparys is born in 1986 and records under the name with Paper Wings listed as the associated members, with Unday Records as a label credit.

His work is based around voice-led songs that use melodic backing vocals, guitars and layered sound, together with percussion influenced by Brazilian Tropicália from the 1960s. His writing often takes a theatrical approach, with songs centred on figures such as the Virgin Mary, a puppet-world sunset and the theme of despair.

Between 2009 and 2012, he releases three albums under The Bony King Of Nowhere name: Alas My Love, Eleonore and The Bony King Of Nowhere. In 2015 he returns with a fourth album under the shortened name Bony King.

His music draws attention in Belgium and beyond. A demo is selected for The Wire Magazine’s “Domino Festival” compilation, which leads to interest from Kieran Hebden, also known as Four Tet, for a film soundtrack project. Devendra Banhart also writes to praise the demo, and Jon Kelly expresses interest in mixing the first album, which is produced by Koen Gisen in his 1960s studio.
