The Bomber

The Bomber is a street punk and punk rock’n’roll band from Novi Sad, Serbia. The group forms around an idea to revive a sound that is seen as having been neglected in Novi Sad, and the first line-up comes together in winter 2002.

Formation and early line-up

The original line-up includes Simbe on vocals, Mladen on drums, Igor on bass, Adam on lead guitar and Silver on rhythm guitar. Simbe has previously played in Direkcija and Pukla Bruka, Mladen in Rundlavi Bizoni, and Silver in No Regrets. The band later changes guitar players after deciding that the first choice is not strong enough for the group’s style.

Line-up changes

Aca Smuk joins on lead guitar and has played in Ska Padavci, Robotovo Gnezdo, The Hoppers, Rundlavi Bizoni and B.B. Rejects. Three weeks before the first live appearance, Djemba joins as second guitarist; he has also played in Brutallica and Lockdown. After the third gig, Djemba leaves because of his commitments to Lockdown, and the band continues without replacing him for a period.

First performances

The Bomber’s first gig takes place on Serbian New Year’s Eve in 2004 in a bomb shelter. The show draws a small but supportive audience for the band’s Novi Sad street punk sound.

Later activity

Mikara, described as a guitar player from Cold Fish, later joins the group, and the band presents this as a larger, louder line-up than before.
