The Bleach Boys

The Bleach Boys are a punk group from Hitchin in Hertfordshire, England. They begin in 1976 and are still active. The band is originally known as the Fur Coughs before taking the name The Bleach Boys, a pun on The Beach Boys. The name is given to them by the philosopher Simon Critchley.

Line-up

The group includes Frankenstein on vocals, Thermo on guitar, Jimmy Jesus on bass and Nuke on drums. At a later point Sean leaves to work in the Middle East and Rob Hague, formerly of S*M*A*S*H, joins in his place.

Releases and recordings

In 1977 the band issues the 7-inch single Chloroform, which later appears in Record Collector as one of the most collectable punk singles. Their later releases are mainly on CD, including We've Got the Bomb, issued on their own Zombie International label. They also record a two-track CD single with Andy Davis, who is responsible for their first CD. That release includes the songs Guantanamo Baby and Deathlist 2.

Live activity

The Bleach Boys play the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool in 2010 and 2011.
