The Beards

The name The Beards is used by three separate acts: an Australian beard-themed band from Adelaide, an indie pop band from Trondheim in Norway, and a U.S. side project by several female musicians.

Adelaide, Australia

The Adelaide band The Beards plays what it calls “bearded music for bearded people” and describes itself as the only band in the world making music solely about beards. It is invited to play the opening ceremony of the 2009 World Beard and Moustache Championships in Alaska. A phrase associated with the band is: “It only takes a fortnight to grow a decent beard.”

Trondheim, Norway

The Norwegian The Beards is an indie pop band from Trondheim. Its debut album, Ut på tur, is released on New Year’s Eve 2007. In December 2008, the band issues Hoston, vi har et problem, a tribute album to Trondheim.

United States

The U.S. The Beards consists of Lisa Marr, Kim Shattuck and Sherri Solinger. It releases a single album, Funtown, in 2002. The album is produced by Jeff McDonald of Redd Kross and includes short films for each of its 11 songs. Those films are shown at festivals in Canada, the United States and Cuba.
