Tensnake
Tensnake is the recording name of Marco Niemerski, a producer from Hamburg, Germany, born in 1975. His music sits within deep house, house and electronic styles, and he is also associated with disco, nu disco and electro.
Background and early influences
Niemerski grows up listening to disco, soul, boogie, funk, 1980s pop and Balearic music. He also cites dancefloor-oriented influences introduced by his older brother, including Larry Levan, Junior Boys Own, Romanthony and Masters at Work.
Labels and releases
He founds the label Mirau in 2005. His first major critical recognition comes with In the End (I Want You to Cry EP), released on Running Back in 2009 and voted number one in djhistory.com’s end-of-year list. In 2010, Coma Cat becomes the defining track of his career so far, reaching number 85 on the UK Singles Chart and number 17 on the UK dance chart.
Debut album
Tensnake releases his debut artist album, Glow, in 2014. The album features collaborations with Fiora, Stuart Price, Jamie Liddell, MNEK, Jeremy Glenn, Gabriel Stebbing of Nightworks, and Nile Rodgers of Chic.
