Teenage Casket Company
Teenage Casket Company, often shortened to TCC, is a rock group from the United Kingdom. It forms in Nottingham, England in January 2004 and continues as an active band. The line-up consists of Rob Wylde on vocals and guitar, Jamie Delerict on vocals and guitar, Laney 74 on bass, and Spike on drums.
Style and sound
The band combines large chorus melodies and strong hooks from late 1980s and early 1990s hair metal, including the sound of Bon Jovi, Warrant and Poison, with the rough edge of late 1980s punk associated with D Generation and Ramones. It also draws on the image and production of modern power pop such as Lit, Marvelous 3 and Butch Walker, giving the group a high-energy, melodic rock and roll style.
Releases and recognition
After a year of touring in the UK, the band releases its debut album, Dial It Up, on its own Trashpit Records label in 2005. The album receives strong reviews internationally and is named Album of the Year by Powerplay Magazine. The following year the band issues the six-track EP Eat Your Heart Out, which also receives favourable reviews. Its opening track, “Don’t Look At Me Like That”, appears as a single and video.
Touring and live activity
Teenage Casket Company tours the UK with L.A. Guns, Vain, Mitch Malloy and Trashlight Vision after the debut album, and later travels to the east coast of the United States in 2005. It also headlines the first Trashstock Festival in Nottingham. In 2006 the group tours the UK with The Dangerfields, performs dates in Ireland, and supports Robin Black on part of a UK run. Later that year it joins the Metal Sludge East Coast Tour 06 with Vains Of Jenna, Tuff and The Erotics, and plays the Summerslam Festival in Venice, Italy. In 2007 the band returns to touring with Sign in the summer and ends the year with a co-headlining UK tour with The Erotics.
Other activity
During the first part of 2007, the members take time away from the band to work on side projects before regrouping with new material for live shows later that year.
