Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders is a rock side project led by Taylor Hawkins, best known as the drummer of Foo Fighters. Hawkins is the band’s drummer and vocalist, and he describes the project as something that began as an accident before developing into a full album and then a more established band. The group is active from 2004.

Line-up

The trio includes Hawkins, Chris Chaney on bass, and Gannin on guitar. Chaney also plays with Jane’s Addiction and has worked with Hawkins in Alanis Morissette’s band.

Releases

The band’s debut self-titled album is released in 2006. It contains 11 songs that are recorded in 2004, before Foo Fighters begin work on In Your Honor. The first official video from the album is for the track “Louise”.

The follow-up album, Red Light Fever, is recorded and produced at Foo Fighters’ Studio 606 in California. It includes guest appearances by Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen, Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters, and Elliot Easton of The Cars. Tracks associated with the album include “Way Down”, “Not Bad Luck” and “Hell to Pay”.
