Tash Sultana

Tash Sultana is a Melbourne-based Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. They are known as a one-person band, performing multiple instruments and building songs through live looping and layered performance. Sultana begins making a name for themself busking in Melbourne, with homemade videos later spreading widely online and drawing millions of views.

Sultana is self-taught and starts playing guitar at the age of three. Their work is centred on a distinctive style of guitar playing, melodic songwriting and vocal performance. As a performer, they also gain attention for playing live shows as a solo act rather than as part of a full band.

Breakthrough and releases

Their best-known single is Jungle, which is released in 2016 and votes into third place in the Triple J Hottest 100 for that year. Another single, Notion, also receives high rotation on triple j. Sultana releases the six-track Notion EP through their independent label, Lonely Lands Records.

Live work and festivals

Sultana sells out a world tour and appears at a large number of high-profile festivals, including Laneway in 2017.
