Tall Trees

Tall Trees is a rock band associated with both Ottawa, Ontario in Canada and Greater Manchester in England. The available information gives two different origins for the name: one describes an Ottawa indie rock group formed in early November 2010 by Jad Hammoud on vocals and guitar and Peter Klaassen on bass, while another describes a UK rock band formed in early January 2010 with Jack on vocals, Gary on guitar, Mark on bass and PK on drums. A later update adds drummer Andrew Cook around December 2011 and then Josh Wynnyk by May 2012 in the Ottawa lineup.

The Ottawa group is made up of students at Canterbury High School for the Arts, with Jad in vocals, Peter in strings and Josh in percussion and winds. It is described as a Canadian indie rock band, while the genre tags also place Tall Trees across house, pop rock, techno and deep house.

The band releases its first EP under the nickname “Tall TreEP” and has played across the city. The Ottawa description says it is working towards recording a first album. The UK description notes that former members Jack, PK and Gary have played alongside acts including The Used, The Blackout, Gallows, You Me At Six and Rise Against, and that the band’s music receives airplay on Kerrang, XFM, Total Rock and MTV2.
