Synthony

Synthony is a New Zealand orchestra-led live electronic music project that presents dance tracks in orchestral form. It brings together a full 60-piece orchestra, DJs, vocalists, a conductor, and a laser and lighting show in a large-scale concert format.

Format and repertoire

The project focuses on electronic dance music from the last 30 years, reworking well-known tracks for orchestra and live performers. Its setlist includes music associated with Avicii, Eric Prydz, Fatboy Slim, Fisher and other dance artists. The performances feature local Australian and New Zealand vocalists alongside the orchestra and DJs.

Development

Synthony begins with a sell-out show in Auckland and develops into annual sold-out tours across New Zealand, as well as a multi-city outdoor tour in Australia in 2021. It is presented as an immersive live experience that combines classical instrumentation with club and festival elements.
