Sworn Amongst

Sworn Amongst are a thrash metal group from Kingston upon Hull, active since 2002. The band forms as a four-piece and develops a sound that combines traditional thrash and speed metal with a modern metal approach, alongside elements associated with groove thrash metal and metalcore.

Early releases and label support

The band releases an independent debut, Derision of Conformity, in 2005. In 2007, they sign to Rising Records. Their next album, And So It Begins, appears in 2008 and receives a positive response from listeners and reviewers; Metal Hammer describes it as a promising and accomplished debut.

Severance and live activity

Sworn Amongst follow up with Severance, which continues the heavier direction of the earlier release while emphasising the group’s blend of brutality, speed and modern metal influences. By this point, the band has built a fan base through studio releases and an active live schedule. Their touring includes dates across the UK and Europe, with more than 150 venues played in nearly fifteen countries.

Tours and festivals

The group appears on Earache’s Thrashing Like a Maniac tour in 2008, and later joins Breed77 and Susperia on the Insects & Attitude tour in 2009. They also take part in the Systematically Exploited tour, the Death Thrash Destruction tour with Man Must Die and The Rotted, and the Total Annihilation European tour with Annihilator. In addition, they head out on their own And So It Begins tour, which runs across the UK and Ireland. Festival appearances include Bloodstock, Hammerfest, Thrash Em All in Spain, Würzburg Metalfest in Germany, and Metal Heads Mission in Ukraine, where they play alongside bands including Cannibal Corpse and Napalm Death.
