Svalbard

Svalbard is a group from Belarus that begins as an ambient solo project in 2006 and is active from that point onwards. It develops into a neofolk, military pop and martial industrial project, and is also described as a martial and darkwave act from Homel. Its early music is based on a mixture of dark ambient and neoclassic.

Early releases and performances

The project records its first demo, Stille, in winter 2007. After that first performance, its concept is reworked. The following year it performs a new programme with a new member, [K.S.], who becomes responsible for the project’s lyrics. Svalbard then receives its first contract with Der Angriff, a subdivision of the Russian label INDIESTATE, and releases its first EP, Treue Vaterland Jugend.

Albums

Work on the first LP, Heimkunft, continues through spring and summer 2009, with the album scheduled to appear on Lichterklang in 2010.
