Super8 & Tab

Super8 & Tab are a Finnish trance duo from Helsinki, formed in 2005 and active since then. The group consists of Super8 and DJ Tab. Their music sits within EDM and trance, including progressive trance and uplifting trance.

Career

The duo builds a reputation for detailed production and a melodic, forward-looking trance sound. They become associated with the Anjunabeats label and are described as one of its key acts, with a particularly strong sales position behind Above & Beyond. They also hold a regular place on the monthly Anjunabeats Worldwide radio show and maintain a long-running residency at Helsinki’s Hallmark club.

Super8 & Tab gain wider attention through tracks including First Aid, Helsinki Scorchin’, Suru and Elektra. Suru attracts notice from DJ Mag as a standout release on Anjuna, while Elektra performs strongly on download charts and festival stages. Their tracks are regularly played by artists such as Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Above & Beyond and Ferry Corsten, and their work receives five-star reviews from publications including Mixmag and DJ Mag.

Remixes, performances and album work

In 2009, Paul van Dyk asks them to remix both New York City and Nothing But You, and Ferry Corsten asks them to remix Made Of Love. They perform at major club and trance events including The Gallery, Mayday, Godskitchen, Trance Energy and A State Of Trance, and they headline the Future stage at Trance Energy. They also play Australia’s Future Music Festival.

Their debut artist album, Empire, features vocal contributions from Jan Burton, Betsie Larkin, Alyna and Julie Thompson. The album includes deep vocal tracks, downtempo pieces and trance fusions, and reaches number one in Finland and number seven on the US iTunes dance chart. It draws praise from Mixmag on release.

The duo enters the DJ Mag Top 100 at number 82, then rises to number 60 the following year, making them the highest-ranking Finnish act in that poll at the time.
