Sunami

Sunami is an American beatdown hardcore band formed in San Jose, California in 2019. It begins as a short-lived joke project involving members of several San Francisco Bay Area hardcore bands, with an early aim of parodying the ignorant style associated with parts of the hardcore scene. The band’s 2019 demo, Demonstration, sets out that approach.

After a violent debut live performance draws attention, Sunami continues beyond its original planned run. The group releases three EPs and a self-titled debut album. A 2023 article in Revolver places them in the upper echelon of bands shaping the hardcore zeitgeist.
