Summer Walker is an American R&B singer and songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. Born in 1996, she works in contemporary R&B, deep soul, hip hop, hip hop soul, neo soul and pop soul.

Career

Walker signs to Love Renaissance and Interscope Records in 2017. In 2018, she releases the mixtape Last Day of Summer, which includes “Girls Need Love”. A remix of that track featuring Drake gives her first top 40 entry on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Her debut studio album Over It follows in 2019. It includes the US top 20 single “Playing Games”. The album receives universal acclaim, debuts at number two on the Billboard 200, sets a record for the biggest streaming debut week for a female R&B artist, and is certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Walker’s second studio album, Still Over It, is released in 2021 and debuts at number one on the Billboard 200. It sets a record for the most album streams in a single day by a female artist on Apple Music, breaks her own record for the largest streaming debut week for a female R&B artist, and makes her one of only two female artists to hold 18 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time, alongside Taylor Swift.
