Subduction

Subduction is an experimental music and performance project formed in 2008 by William Van Huss, who is formerly of The Luminaries, and Ian Briscoe, who also works as Mystery Made Manifest. The project draws on electronic, industrial and avant-garde approaches, and its sound incorporates homemade analogue synths, samplers, stylophone, theremin, tape loops, shortwave radio, computer and other elements.

Its debut release, Bad News From The Inner Solar System, is recorded over the summer and autumn of 2008 and issued in February 2009 by Psyche Zenobia Music and the Digital Meltd0wn music blog. The project’s influences include early electronica such as the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, as well as Psychic TV, Severed Heads and Einstürzende Neubauten. Non-musical reference points also include William Burroughs’ cut-up technique, Dadaism, science and alchemy.
