Sub6

Sub6 is an Israeli psychedelic trance duo from Israel, made up of brothers Golan Aharony and Ohad Aharony. The group is associated with psytrance and eurobeat, and is known for combining pop and acid influences with a strong dancefloor focus.

Style and development

The duo describes its music in terms of “mellowdramatic alternative rave songs”, using vocoders, detuned synthesizers and deliberately rough samples. Its work is presented as aiming at both audiophiles and critical listeners, while also seeking broader dance music appeal. Sub6 is credited with helping move psytrance beyond underground acid forest settings toward a wider international audience.

Releases and notable tracks

Among Sub6’s best-known tracks are “Rahe'ya” and “7th Son”, the latter featuring Michele Adamson. The duo’s debut album, Who Needs Love Songs, is released on Hommega and is described as a milestone in psytrance music.

Collaborations and remixes

Sub6 releases tracks and remixes on labels including Ministry of Sound, Hit Mania in the UK, and Warner in Japan. The duo also remixes tracks by Tim Healy, Astrix and Yahel, while its own original tracks are remixed by GMS, Shanti, Wrecked Machines and Ticon, among others.

Live performances

The group performs at clubs and festivals around the world, including Rio E-music in Brazil, AgeHa in Tokyo, Brixton Academy in London, Arvika Festival in Sweden, and Earthcore’s Global Carnival in Australia.
