Strata
Strata is an alternative rock group from Campbell, United States, active from 2003 to 2008, with later activity from 2014 onwards. The band is led by Ryan Hernandez.
Early releases and debut album
Before its major-label debut, the band releases two independent EPs. Under the previous name Downside, it issues a nine-track disc called Sleep in 2001. In 2003, it releases a seven-track disc under the Strata name, Now the Industry is Outnumbered. Their Factories are Burning Down. The self-titled debut album follows in 2004 on Wind-Up Records and appears on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, where it peaks at number 41.
Recordings and media appearances
Strata's song “Piece By Piece” appears on the soundtrack to The Punisher and in the video game Madden NFL 2005. “Never There (She Stabs)” appears on the soundtrack to Elektra. The band also makes music videos for the singles “The Panic” and “Never There (She Stabs).”
Second album and hiatus
The second album, Strata Presents the End of the World, is released in 2007 and includes the singles “Stay Young” and “Cocaine (We're All Going to Hell).” The group goes on hiatus in January 2008 after vocalist Eric Victorino leaves to pursue other creative work.
Later activity and related projects
After leaving Strata, Eric Victorino performs with The Limousines. Ryan Hernandez and drummer Adrian Robison form Beta State. Strata later releases The Sawmill Sessions EP in 2015 and returns with the single “Around the Bend” in 2020.
Line-up
Current members include Ryan Hernandez, Hrag Chanchanian, Eric Victorino, Jonathan Poso and Jim Leadbetter. Former members include Patrick Spain, Adrian Robison and Andy Bailey. The group is described as a four-piece in its early form.
