Steve Hooker is an English guitarist from Essex, based in Southchurch. He is associated with rockabilly, blues and blues rock, and is known for work across garage rock, rockabilly and related guitar-led styles.

Career

Hooker plays guitar with The Shakers, described as a garage band, and with Bozmen, the group led by Boz of the Polecats. He also performs in the rockabilly trio Rumble, and is linked with Steve Hooker Rumble and the Steve Hooker Band.

His work includes recordings with Wilko Johnson, the Feelgood and Blockhead, and Demented Are Go, as well as Captain Drugbuster. He has toured widely since the 1970s across Europe, and also plays in New York and Japan.

Collaborations and live work

Hooker has shared stages with Chuck Berry, Johnny Thunders and Robert Gordon. His reputation is closely tied to his stagecraft as a guitarist.
