Special Needs are a United Kingdom band active from 1998. The group forms around Zachery Stephenson and has included Daniel Shack, Philip James and Andrew Pearson, with Neil Allan later joining on drums. Allan later moves back to Scotland and Nicholas Bukowski replaces him when the band reforms in 2011.

History

Special Needs form in 1999 and release a series of singles before signing to Poptones in 2004 and later Mercury. They break up at the end of 2005. Their album Funfairs & Heartbreak appears after the split and is released by Re-Action Records in 2007. The band returns in 2011 and releases the single I Agree With Nick, before splitting again at the end of 2012.

They are described as an American 1980s-style hardcore band and are also tagged as indie, indie pop, garage rock and britpop. The group shares members with Bad American.
