South Central
South Central are a UK producer and remix duo made up of Keith Camilleri and Robert Chetcuti. They begin making music together in 2006 and work across electronic music, with tags and later genre descriptions including new rave, electro, bass house, deep house, dubstep, EDM, electronica and house.
Career
The pair build their reputation through performance-led sets that combine rock, electronica, beat manipulation, rave classic covers and live track creation. They perform under their trademark hoods and are known for a direct, improvisatory approach in the studio and on stage.
South Central are spotted in Paris by The Prodigy, after which they tour with them. They also tour with Pendulum and support Rage Against The Machine and Vitalic. They play their own shows internationally and appear at events including UKF Bass Culture and Death Disco in Glasgow.
Releases
Among their releases is the free EP Pitfalls & Corridors, which they present as music for both dancefloors and DJs. They also work on new material while using earlier tracks and live ideas as part of their performances.
Style and approach
Their music draws on rave, rock and electronic production, with an emphasis on energy and spontaneity. Their stated approach is to make and perform whatever feels right at the time rather than following a fixed formula.
