Sons of Bill

Sons of Bill are a country rock group from Charlottesville, United States, active from 2005. The band forms around brothers James, Sam and Abe Wilson, who are the sons of Bill Wilson, after whom the group is named. They return to Virginia from different paths in life and build their music from the country they grow up with, while also drawing on rock and jazz influences.

Line-up

James Wilson plays acoustic guitar and is the lead vocalist. Sam Wilson plays electric guitar, sings backing vocals and sometimes sings lead. Abe Wilson plays piano, organ and banjo and also sings. The group also includes Seth Green on bass and Todd Wellons on drums.

Early activity

The band forms in the fall of 2005. In 2006, it wins the University of Virginia battle of the bands and uses the prize recording time at Crystalphonic Studios to make its first album, A Far Cry From Freedom. The album sells more than 1,000 copies in its first eight months.
