Sona Jobarteh is a kora player from Gambia and England, born in 1983. She comes from the West African Jobarteh griot family and is described as the first female kora virtuoso from that lineage. She is a griot by background and is the granddaughter of the master griot Amadu Bansang Jobarteh. She is also a cousin of the kora player Toumani Diabaté.
