Soledad Brothers

Soledad Brothers are an American blues punk and garage rock group from Maumee, Ohio. The band forms in 1998 and consists of Brian Olive, Ben Swank and Johnny Walker. Their recorded work appears on Soledad Brothers Music.

Style and name

The band plays a loud, energetic blend of blues rock, garage rock and blues punk. Their name comes from Soledad Prison and refers to George Jackson, Fleeta Drumgo and John Clutchette, three convicted men who are incarcerated there and killed by police fire.

Releases and collaborations

Their self-titled debut album is engineered by Jack White of The White Stripes, and the two acts share an apartment in Detroit. Oliver Henry joins the group just before the release of their second album, playing saxophone and guitar.

Later activity

Johnny Walker resides in Covington, Kentucky and starts Cut in the Hill Gang. Ben Swank works at Third Man Records in Nashville.
