Snakehips

Snakehips are a British electronic music duo from the United Kingdom. The group consists of Oliver Lee and James Carter.

Formation and background

Lee and Carter meet in Hong Kong in summer 2012 while they are working on separate projects at Sake Bar Ginn, a sake bar. They connect over shared music tastes and agree to meet again to discuss music, but both forget the arrangement. They later reconnect on a flight to London and decide to work together in the studio. After success working in the studio with Jane and Jeff Purse, they choose the name Snakehips for the project.

Remixes and early attention

Snakehips build an early reputation through remixes that gain attention on Hype Machine. Their remix work includes tracks by Banks, The Weeknd, Bondax and Wild Belle.

Recorded work

The group is best known for the 2015 single "All My Friends".
