Slow Club
Slow Club are an English folk-pop duo from Sheffield, United Kingdom, active from 2006 to 2017. The group consists of Rebecca Taylor and Charles Watson, and they perform as a two-piece with Watson on vocals and guitar and Taylor on vocals, guitar and percussion. Their sound is associated with alternative rock and rock as well as folk-pop, and they are also described as an indie pop act.
Style and characteristics
The duo are known for quirky lyrics, a wide use of percussion instruments and the vocal interplay between the two singers. Their songs combine guitar-led arrangements with shared vocals and a compact band setup.
Releases and activity
Slow Club release a sequence of EPs and singles including Because We're Dead, Me and You, Let's Fall Back in Love, Christmas TV and It Doesn't Have to Be Beautiful. Their debut album, Yeah So, appears in 2009, and their second album, Paradise, follows in 2011. The duo later issue two more studio albums before concentrating on solo projects.
Tours and label
They are signed to Moshi Moshi Records and tour nationally with artists including Fionn Regan, Noisettes, Hot Club De Paris, Tilly and the Wall, Jamie T and Jeremy Warmsley.
