Name and style

The band takes its name from a term used by US science writer Steven Berlin Johnson to describe the idea that popular culture can benefit a person’s cognitive development. Their music draws on a range of influences, from contemporary bands such as Interpol, Elbow and Biffy Clyro to classic pop and alt-rock acts including Depeche Mode, Soundgarden and The Smashing Pumpkins.

Sleepercurve also build cinematic soundscapes inspired by dystopian films of the 1970s and 1980s, including Logan’s Run and Blade Runner.
