Slamboree
Slamboree is a live group from Bristol, led by Angela Chan. It performs as a 10-piece act, but the line-up changes from show to show, with different performers drawn from a wider collective for each performance. The project is built around live music and circus-style presentation, with performers described as including circus acts, daredevils and other entertainers.
Style and setup
Its sound combines bass-heavy electronic rhythms with live orchestra, guitars, percussion, loops, brass, accordion, visuals and pyrotechnics. The music moves across breakbeat, electro swing, dubstep, drum and bass, dub, techno and electronic styles, and also draws on balkan, folk and gypsy influences. The project presents all of this as a fully live setup.
Performances and activities
Slamboree plays at festivals and other events, with performances at Glastonbury Festival, Electric Picnic, Boomtown, Shambala, Beatherder and Kendal Calling, as well as a performance on the River Thames in London. The group describes itself as fully independent and working largely through word of mouth.
Music credits
The project includes music by Mike Freear.
