Simpletones

Simpletones are a pop punk and punk rock group from Rosemead, United States, active from 1978 to 1980. They emerge from the late 1970s Los Angeles punk scene and are one of the early acts associated with the Posh Boy label, where they are the second band signed to the new label.

Line-up and connections

The group includes Josh Freese, Jay Lansford and Snickers. Other members named in connection with the band include Jerry Koskie and Rabit. Snickers also plays with The Klan, while Rabit comes from The Cheifs. Jay Lansford is linked with the Stepmothers, CH3, Rik L Rik and the Urge.

Recordings and compilation appearances

Simpletones are noted for their contributions to the Rodney On The ROQ and Beach Boulevard compilation LPs. Those releases include the songs "California", "I Like Drugs" and "I Have A Date". "I Have A Date" is later re-recorded and often performed by The Vandals.
