Silly Goose

Silly Goose is an Atlanta-based nu metal band. The group begins in 2017 under the name Student Driver before adopting the Silly Goose name and changing its lineup. Its sound centres on guitar riffs, drum patterns and bass lines, and it draws on nu metal alongside alternative metal, hip hop and grunge influences. The band is described as working across metal, nu metal, rap metal, rap rock and rapcore.

Formation and lineup

The earliest members include lead singer Jackson Foster, bassist Stephen Pasell and drummer Alan Benikhis. Guitarist and vocalist Alex Goeke joins after meeting Foster and the band at a house show, and guitarist Santi Cabeza joins in a similar way. Foster says in 2021 that the group has been playing in that lineup for about nine months, while Silly Goose has existed for four years.

Style

Foster describes his musical taste as broad, with a particular focus on the distinctiveness of nu metal. Silly Goose’s sound combines heavy riffs with elements taken from hip-hop and grunge, giving the band a direct, high-intensity approach.
