Shotta

Shotta is the stage name of Ignacio González Rodríguez, a Spanish rapper from Sevilla, Spain. Born in 1984, he works in hip hop and is known for rapping in Spanish.

Career

He begins recording with his brother, Toteking MC. Together they release the demo XXL in 2000, followed by a maxi and the LP Tu Madre Es una Foca in 2002. That album breaks records for a hip-hop release in Spain.

His first solo album, La Selva, appears in 2004. By then, he is already established in Spanish rap and works with a number of high-profile guests and producers. His style is marked by strong language and acidic humour, and he becomes known for rants directed at the church and the police.

By his third album, Profundo, released in 2011, his writing shows greater maturity and a stronger social conscience.
