Short Bus Window Lickers

Short Bus Window Lickers are a punk group from London, active since 2000. They form in Brixton, south London, and first appear at the Button Factory squat, where they interrupt a DJ set and play their brief set three times in succession. Their sound is described as fast, furious hardcore punk, and they build a reputation on frequent shows in and around London at benefits, squats, pubs and clubs.

Early years and recordings

In February 2004, the group records a demo CD titled St.Vicky, which circulates widely around Camden Lock. In May that year, Darragh, who also plays with The Restarts, leaves because of study commitments. His final show with the band is at the first Hackney Punx Olympix on 28 May 2004 at the Poison Club squat on Dalston Lane, a venue the group treats as a second home.

Szmalec then joins on drums. The band continues to expand its activities beyond London, playing with acts including the Varukers, Discharge, Icons Of Filth, Sick On The Bus, UK Subs, Riot/Clone, Disorder, Broken Bones, Oi Polloi, Inner Terrestrials, The Restarts and P.A.I.N.

Albums, touring and line-up changes

In January 2006, Short Bus Window Lickers independently release their first full-length album, 6 For A Fiver, on CD. They tour Europe in March 2006 in support of the record, with dates in Holland, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Belgium and France, and later play in Mallorca in September. At the end of 2006, P-tex leaves after six years in the group, with his last gig taking place on 20 January 2007. After jamming with other musicians, the band bring in Kats from Intensive Care on bass.

Later activity

In June 2007, the group tour Europe again with Armed Response Unit, visiting Belgium, Holland, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and France. They are also reported back in London with a festival appearance in Rennes, Brittany, scheduled for September.
