Shooglenifty are a Scottish Celtic fusion group formed in 1990 and based in Edinburgh. They combine Scottish traditional music with influences from electronica and alternative rock, and they tour internationally.

Background and style

The group takes part in the Celtic fusion movement, alongside acts such as Peatbog Faeries and Croft No. Five. Their music sits within celtic and folk, with the added crossover elements that give the band its acid croft reputation.

Members and history

Several members previously played together in Swamptrash. The group includes Luke Plumb, Ewan MacPherson, Eilidh Shaw, Angus R. Grant, Conrad Ivitsky, James Mackintosh and Iain MacLeod. Angus R. Grant dies in October 2016. The line-up listed in the bio also includes Malcolm Crosbie, Garry Finlayson and Quee MacArthur.

Recordings and collaborations

Shooglenifty contribute to Afro Celt Sound System’s Volume 1: Sound Magic. Their albums include Venus in Tweeds, A Whisky Kiss, Live at Selwyn Hall, Solar Shears, The Arms Dealer's Daughter, Radical Mestizo, Troots, Murmichan and The Untied Knot. The releases appear on Greentrax, Womad, Compass and Shoogle.
