Sexy Sushi

Sexy Sushi is a French electroclash group made up of Rebeka Warrior and Mitch Silver. The duo forms in December 2002 and works in electro punk, with computers playing a central role in the music’s construction. The group is associated with the label AllPoints France.

Members and roles

Rebeka Warrior sings, writes the lyrics and sometimes contributes arrangements for tracks. She also performs in the post-rock group Mansfield tya. Mitch Silver composes the songs and uses computers to build the tracks.

Background and influences

The two musicians meet by chance at the record department of Super U and begin exchanging work before starting their first tracks together. Their stated influences are broad, ranging from Berruriers Noirs to Jamiro Pagiro and Séverine Dion, while Mitch Silver cites Plaid and Daft Punk among his favourite artists.

Style and approach

Sexy Sushi describe their aim as simply making music for fun. Their output sits between electroclash and electro punk, with a rough electronic style shaped by Warrior’s vocals and Silver’s computer-based composition.
