Set It Off
Set It Off is an American rock and pop punk group formed in Tampa, Florida, in 2008. The line-up consists of Cody Carson on lead vocals and guitar, Zach Dewall on guitar, bass and vocals, and Maxx Danziger on drums. The band first builds a large audience through Cody Carson’s YouTube channel.
Style and development
The group begins with pop punk and later expands its sound across several releases. Duality (2014) adds R&B elements, while Midnight (2019) brings in hip-hop and emo influences. In its early years, the band is influenced by Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, Green Day and Blink-182. It later returns to its pop punk roots in 2023 with singles such as “Punching Bag”, “Win Win”, “Evil People” and “Fake Ass Friends”.
Releases and recognition
Set It Off is known for the song “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing” from Duality, which gains wide popularity on social media and appears in fandom spaces including Undertale and Gachaverse. The band also records a cover of Ariana Grande’s “problem” for Punk Goes, along with the original track “This Christmas (I’ll Burn It to the Ground)”. Its studio albums are Cinematics (2012), Duality (2014), Upside Down (2016), Midnight (2019), Elsewhere (2022) and Set It Off (2025).
