Senses Fail

Senses Fail is a US pop punk and emo band from Ridgewood, New Jersey, active since 2001. Its lineup changes over the years include James “Buddy” Nielsen, Dan Trapp, Dave Miller, Garrett Zablocki, Mike Glita, Heath Saraceno, Jason Black, Zack Roach, Matt Smith, Gavin Caswell, Chris Hornbrook, Greg Styliades, Jason Milbank, Steve Carey, Tim, Haig and Mark.

Early releases and first album

The original lineup consists of Buddy Nielsen, Dan Trapp, Dave Miller, Garrett Zablocki and Mike Glita. The band’s debut EP, From the Depths of Dreams, comes out first on ECA Records in a limited run before being reissued by Drive-Thru Records with two extra tracks, “Handguns and Second Chances” and “The Ground Folds (acoustic).” Their debut album, Let It Enfold You, follows on Vagrant Records and includes the singles “Buried a Lie” and “Rum Is for Drinking, Not for Burning,” both of which have music videos.

Line-up changes and later albums

In 2005, Dave Miller leaves and Heath Saraceno, formerly of Midtown, joins the band. Senses Fail then release their second full-length album, Still Searching, in 2006 and tour in support of it with Warped Tour and Taste of Chaos. Mike Glita leaves the following year, and Jason Black of Hot Water Music joins at first as a temporary replacement before staying in the group. The third album, Life Is Not a Waiting Room, follows in 2008.

After the band’s appearance at Warped Tour in 2009, Heath Saraceno leaves and Zack Roach, who also plays guitar in Spirit of the Stairs, replaces him. The fourth album, The Fire, is released through Hassle Records in the UK and Vagrant elsewhere. In 2011, Garrett Zablocki leaves to attend college and Matt Smith of Strike Anywhere takes his place.
