Sebastian Bach
Sebastian Bach is a Canadian rock and metal singer from Freeport, Canada, born in 1968. He is best known as the frontman of Skid Row, and he also uses the legal surname Bierk.
Early work and Skid Row
Before joining Skid Row, he performs in a number of short-lived and lesser-known bands, including Herrenvolk, Madam X, V05 and Kid Wikkid. A demo from Skid Row reaches him in 1987, and the group signs to Atlantic Records. Skid Row releases its self-titled debut album in 1989, and Bach becomes widely associated with the band. He serves as lead vocalist until he is dismissed in 1995.
Other bands and collaborations
In 1996, Bach forms the rock supergroup the Last Hard Men with Jimmy Flemion of the Frogs, Kelley Deal of the Breeders and Jimmy Chamberlin of the Smashing Pumpkins. The group records a self-titled album for Atlantic Records, but it is not issued there and later appears on Nice Records with a limited pressing. He later collaborates with Henning Pauly as the singer on the Frameshift album An Absence of Empathy.
Stage, television and guest appearances
Bach appears at the New York Steel benefit concert in response to the September 11 attacks in 2001. In 2002 and 2003, he performs the role of Jesus in the touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He also plays Gil, the guitarist in Lane Kim’s band, on Gilmore Girls, and appears as himself and as a model railroad enthusiast in Trailer Park Boys.
He features on VH1’s Forever Wild, works on a DVD version of the programme, and stars in the VH1 reality series SuperGroup as part of Damnocracy with Ted Nugent, Evan Seinfeld, Jason Bonham and Scott Ian. He also appears on Celebrity Duets singing with Hal Sparks.
Later career
Bach appears with Guns N’ Roses on several occasions in 2006, singing “My Michelle” and also filling in on “Nightrain” and “Paradise City” at one show. He tours with Guns N’ Roses later that year. In 2007, he releases Angel Down, an album that combines rock and metal.
He also performs with Sebastian Bach and the Bach Five, formerly known as Sebastian Bach and Friends, and has been associated with projects including Rock N' Hull All Stars, Kings of Chaos, GAK and Twisted Sister feat. Sebastian Bach.
