Scott Freeman

Scott Freeman is a United Kingdom-based singer-songwriter and voice actor from Southampton. He has worked at Funimation since 2005 and appears in more than 50 anime productions.

Voice acting career

Freeman begins with small background parts, including roles credited as “Soldier J”, “Man B” and “Thug A”. He then moves on to more specific character roles such as “Yellow Merchant” and “Green Shirt Brown Hat Man”, before taking on characters with actual names. Over time, he begins to land larger parts and his voice acting work grows in prominence.

His credits include Pirates: One Piece, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, the film Conqueror of Shamballa, Big Windup, Desert Punk, Initial D, KenIchi, Linebarrels, Romeo X Juliet, Soul Eater and The Tower of Druaga.

Background

Freeman describes himself as an artist first, then a nerd, and then a musician. He first watches anime early in high school, after seeing a VHS recording from a Japanese classmate’s home, and becomes an immediate fan even without subtitles. Working with Funimation is a long-held ambition, and he values the fandom that helps bring more attention to anime culture.
