Satellite Stories
Satellite Stories are an indie pop and indie rock band from Oulu, Finland. The group consists of Esa Mankinen on vocals and guitar, Marko Heikkinen on lead guitar, Jyri Pesonen on bass and vocals, and Olli-Pekka Ervasti on drums.
The band forms in 2012 and that year releases its debut album, Phrases to Break the Ice. It tours widely across Europe after the album’s release, and its music spreads through online music blogs during the same period. The single Campfire takes the band to No. 1 on the Hype Machine chart for most-blogged artists.
Satellite Stories’ sound is described as energetic indie pop, and the band is compared with acts such as Two Door Cinema Club and Tokyo Police Club. Its festival appearances include Dot to Dot Festival, Arenal Sound in Spain, Flow Festival in Finland, Hultsfred Festival in Sweden, and Lowlands in the Netherlands.
