Samoans
Samoans are a math rock and alternative rock group from Cardiff, United Kingdom. Formed in 2008, the band develops a style that combines intricate playing with melody, and is influenced by Reuben, Maps & Atlases and Secondsmile. Although based in Cardiff, none of the members originates from the city itself.
The group builds a reputation for demanding live performances, with a focus on energetic delivery, fretboard technique and heavy drumming. Their line-up includes Daniel Barnett, and Chris Rouse joins on drums from 2012.

In 2011 the band releases its debut single, Somersault, on Barely Regal Records. In the same period, it issues a limited split cassette with Without Maps on 49s versus Dolphins Records and records its first BBC Radio 1 live session. The second single, Catamaran, appears on a limited edition cassette through Kissability Records in 2012.
Later in 2012, Samoans release their debut EP, Elevated Reflections, which shows a heavier direction than earlier material and draws critical acclaim. The band also performs at Reading & Leeds Festival and SWN Festival.
