Sadie Jean

Sadie Jean is an American pop singer-songwriter from Tustin, New York. She is signed to SELENE and studies at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.

Early life and training

Jean is born in 2002. She starts piano lessons in first grade and continues for six years, alongside vocal lessons. She also begins writing songs in first grade and sings in her high school choir.

Breakthrough

Her brother encourages her to share her music after hearing her perform a cover of Radiohead’s “Creep”, which leads her to begin posting recordings to SoundCloud. In October 2021, she writes “WYD Now?” with fellow New York University students Grace Enger and David Alexander Levya, then posts a snippet of the song to TikTok the next day. An open verse challenge for the track goes viral on TikTok in November 2021, and the song is released as her debut single in December 2021. It becomes her breakthrough release after spreading widely on TikTok in 2021.

Videos and later work

In February 2022, Jean releases the music video for “WYD Now?”, directed by Jaqueline Dufwa.
