Ruthie Foster

Ruthie Foster is an American singer-songwriter whose work spans blues, folk and soul. She is from Gause, Texas, and is part of a family of gospel singers. Born in 1964, she studies music at McLennan Community College before working in the US Navy, where she begins performing.

Her debut release appears in 1997. She performs across North America, Europe and Australia. Her voice and style are often compared with Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin.
