Rue

Rue is a sludge metal band from Northeast Ohio, formed in Akron at the beginning of 2003. The group is known for a loud, heavy sound and for playing across the East Coast and Midwest.

Releases and recording

The band releases its self-titled debut CD through Shifty Records in 2003. In 2004, it appears on a split CD with Aldebaran. It is also recording new material for another full-length release.

Performances and associations

Rue tours with bands including Weedeater, Bongzilla and Rwake, and also appears alongside Keelhaul, Goatwhore, Eyehategod, Mushroomhead, Yob, 16, Alabama Thunderpussy, Meatjack, High on Fire and Unsane.

Style and influences

The band draws on sludge metal, stoner metal, doom metal and sludgecore, with influences that include Iron Monkey, Buzzoven, Celtic Frost, the Melvins, Acid Bath and Black Flag. Its sound is described as thick and precise.
