Rubylux

Rubylux is a group from Brighton and Hove. The band name comes from a story about a psychic neighbour of Adam, who says that “Ruby” is a lucky omen that will help the band break through. According to the band’s account, some of those predictions prove accurate, and the original four members stay together as the group develops.

Formation and early activity

After around two months of songwriting and rehearsal, Rubylux decide to take a different approach from the indie scene they feel they do not fully fit. They begin performing in the street during the summer of 2007, taking their music directly to audiences rather than following a more conventional route.

These impromptu performances build crowds, with the band handing out CDs to hundreds of people after shows. This approach helps them grow a larger fanbase.

Sound and influences

Rubylux describe themselves as songwriters who prioritise pop hooks, strong melody and large choruses. Their music is shaped by a broad range of influences, and they aim for songs that leave a lasting impression.

Career and reach

The band also gains commercial placements, with advertising synchronisations across Europe, America, Asia and Australia. They continue to develop new material and expand their live show, with studio work part of their ongoing activity.
