Ruby Throat

Ruby Throat are a UK folk duo made up of Katie-Jane Garside and Chris Whittingham. The group forms in 2006 after Garside discovers Whittingham busking on the London Underground. Garside is also known for her work in Queen Adreena and formerly Daisy Chainsaw.

Their music is associated with English folk and gothic americana, with an emphasis on fragility and an ethereal sound. Their debut album, The Ventriloquist, first appears in a limited edition run in 2007, followed by another limited edition issue in 2008 and then a commercial release later that year with additional tracks added to the tracklist.

In 2008, the single “House of Thieves” is released digitally with the b-side “He Doesn't Love You”. Their second album, Out of A Black Cloud Came A Bird, follows in 2009 as another limited numbered edition, including fine art prints, photographs and a personal effect, alongside a standard gatefold version.

Whittingham’s pinhole photography features on the 2008 limited edition of The Ventriloquist. The group remains active from 2006 to the present.
