RSJ

RSJ is a heavy metal group from York, England, active since 2002. The band forms in late 2002 and develops a sound described as heavy noise metal, with influences and audience overlap in death metal, metalcore and grindcore.

Live activity and touring

The group builds a reputation through aggressive, high-energy concerts and plays with a range of metal and hardcore acts, including Slayer, Funeral for a Friend, Minus, Orange Goblin, Raging Speedhorn, Murder One, Biohazard and Unearth. It also tours the UK with The Berzerker and performs a London support show with Unearth. RSJ receives sponsorship from ESP Guitars and Bolt Streetwear.

Recordings and releases

In 2004, RSJ releases Blueprint for a Brighter Future and the promotional video for Reborn receives regular airplay on Scuzz TV. The band later appears on the US compilation Raw Aggression through Rotting Corpse Records. In 2005, RSJ issues its first full-length album, Reflections in B Minor, on Copro Records. The album is produced by Dave Chang at Philia Studios and contains 12 tracks.

Recognition

The band receives positive coverage from music press including Terrorizer, Powerplay, Kerrang! Magazine and Metal Hammer. It is also included in the Kerrang! decks of doom writers’ playlist and receives a live review score of 4K from Kerrang! for a performance in 2006.
