Rrose is a techno producer from California, United States, born in 1973. Rrose comes to wider attention in 2011 after issuing three EPs and an album on Sandwell District. The music is densely textured and experimental, while remaining suited to the dancefloor, and draws on techno’s roots as well as pre-techno electronic music and the avant-garde.

Style and approach

Rrose’s work places emphasis on the tactile qualities of sound and on gradual, interconnected transformations of material. The result is a form of techno that is rooted in the genre’s history but also pulls in elements from outside it.
