Royal Southern Brotherhood
Royal Southern Brotherhood is a blues and blues rock group from New Orleans, United States. It forms in 2011 and is active from then on. The lineup includes Mike Zito, Devon Allman, Cyril Neville, Yonrico Scott, Charlie Wooton and Bart Walker. The group is described as a supergroup, bringing together musicians with existing reputations in blues and Southern rock.
Formation and members
The band centres on singer and percussionist Cyril Neville, singer and guitarist Devon Allman, singer and guitarist Mike Zito, drummer Yonrico Scott and bassist Charlie Wooton. Cyril Neville is the youngest of the Neville Brothers. Devon Allman is the son of Greg Allman. Yonrico Scott is a longtime member of the Derek Trucks Band. Charlie Wooton is noted for his work on the Southern jam scene. Bart Walker is also listed among the members.
Style and releases
Royal Southern Brotherhood plays blues and blues rock. Its first album arrives in 2012 and the record is issued on Ruf Records, with Munich Records also listed in connection with the release. A set of tracks associated with the album includes New Horizons, Fired Up!, Left My Heart in Memphis, Moonlight over the Mississippi, Fire on the Mountain, Ways About You, Gotta Keep Rockin’, NoWhere To Hide, Hurts My Heart, Sweet Jelly Donut and All Around The World, ending with Brotherhood.
Recognition
The group receives a nomination in 2011 for the Blues Music Foundation’s Best Blues Rock award, and it wins a Blues Music Award in 2010.
