Romina Johnson
Romina Johnson is a UK-based singer working in R&B, soul and garage. Born in 1973, she is associated with London and also has Italian family roots, having been born in Rome to an American father, the musician Wesley Johnson, and an Italian mother. She makes her singing debut in 1994 on the Italian television show Non è la RAI.
Garage and chart success
Johnson is best known for providing the lead vocals on Artful Dodger’s Movin’ Too Fast, a UK number two hit in 2000. She is the featured vocalist on that single and it becomes the track most closely linked with her name in the UK garage scene. Later in the same year, she returns to the UK Singles Chart with My Forbidden Lover, recorded with Luci Martin and Norma Jean of Chic.
Later appearances and Odyssey
In 2011, Johnson appears on the BBC panel show Never Mind the Buzzcocks in the Identity Parade round. Since 2013, she sings with Odyssey, the disco group associated with the 1970s and 1980s.
